Cold hardy cactus-Opuntia polyacantha

Opuntia polyacantha is one of my favorite cacti. Big pads, lots of spines and big, beautiful flowers. It’s very hardy and looks good in the spring. Its also easy to start from seed. That’s how I started mine.

I ordered 1 pack of pink flower Opuntia polyacantha. After 3 years my patch in the sand garden had pink, raspberry, yellow and almost white flowers. So, there is a question, did I got mix of seeds or its just result of cross pollination?

Any way, I am very happy with the results, as are my customers.

On the picture the most popular colour, dusty pink. It is stunning.Op pol dusty pink

Blooming Cacti

Just want to let you know that my Cactus is blooming.
It is beautiful. Every day a new patch starts to bloom.I hope there will be a lot of flowers for the open garden on June 26.
Also, the Penstemon is showing off. Shades of pink and purple.
My favourite, Persicaria Polymorpha, towers over the garden. Huge blooms are covered with insects.
There are bumble bees everywhere.
On the pictures are; Echinocereus and Opuntia Polycantha
